Today has been very up and down.
Took my car in for service and then got to go to the mall with my SIL and hit Steve and Barry's going out of business sale getting 3 pairs of jeans, 2 t-shirts, a sweater, a sweatshirt, tanktop and 3 cute bras for 51$
Car needs 650$ in various repair and maintenance work. I give my ok, because it needs it and I need my car. Later they don't call to tell me my car is ready and they're already closed by the time I call to check(thought they closed later than they did) Cue lotsa cussing and a call to my dad who's willing to play hooky at work to come take me to the dealer tomorrow and get my car.
Had an email from Dollheart that they will mail the replacement for the mess-up fer coat to me next week. Got home via car ride from my brother and found a notice from US District court regarding an FTC settlement with some telemarketers who managed to get 80$ out of me a few years ago and a check for 80$ as a refund.

In other news because I'm staying home for Christmas this year I've been thinking about what I want to eat that day and although it's old meme I'm thinking I want MEATCAKE! with turkey meatloaf and a currant jelly and tomoto glaze(recipe obtained from SIL) A lot of work for a Christmas dinner for one, so any of my Houston friends that are in town are free to come join in the insanity.

GODDAMN FUCKING MARLIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Took Teddy to the vet today for a follow-up visit and steroid booster shot. Good news is he seems more alert than before and has gained a little weight(2 ounces) less than whet me and the doctors would prefer. So they sent me home with some prescription cat food with a high protein/fat content they use for anorexic animals. So far Teddy hasn't shown much interest in it, unless I mix it with some of his favorite gooshy food. So still on keeping Teddy comfortable until he's no longer happy.

I took Teddy to the Memorial Cat Hospital for some diagnostics they couldn't do at Banfield. They did an ultrasound and did find a tumor in his colon. Due to it's location and size it wouldn't be easy for them to operate and remove it. The most they can do right now is give him some steroids to try and shrink it a little and make him more comfortable.

I'm at school right now, because there is a joint presentation I'm suppose to give with another student. And afterwards I don't know.

Teddy's X-rays today showed a little movement and he did poop a little at the vet's. And after a day of IV fluid he's much better hydrated. The goal is still the same tonight. Try to get him to eat, and more fluid. And tomorrow again trip to the vet for fluids and X-rays.

YAY!! Teddy ate while I was preparing this post. The vet gave me a little sample bag of temptation treats. I was opening them up and teddy showed interest so I offered him on and he went Om nomnom. I dumped most of the bag in front of him(a few were tossed to Chester and Carrie so they wouldn't try and steal from Teddy) I think he ate about half the bag before he gave up. He then went to the litter box to try and poop and last I saw he was drinking some kitty milk and sniffing at cat food. Still no word on what's caused the original blockage, but we're getting things to move so it's a good sign.

Today is made of suck. One of my kitties is really sick and vets aren't sure what's causing it. All they know right now is that there's something blocking his intestines and he's really painfully thin, having gone from 14.5 lbs to 7.8lbs. Tonight I'm try tempt him with liquids and try to get him to eat and take him back for more X-rays and tests tomorrow.

If you are reading this, post a picture of a cat in your journal. (Your cat, a lolcat, or someone else's cat. But preferably yours, if possible.

I love my mom, but there are somethings I shouldn't find out because I just happened to call home. Things like 'oh did I tell you? Grandpa's been diagnosed with some weird incurable blood cancer' I HAVE a phone, I don't check my messages as often as I should but hey I have an email address, and that I check DAILY!

So yesterday my friends Misty and Nikki headed up to Renfest for Misty's birthday. For some crazy reason I forgot my typical route of going on 249 through Tomball and followed their guide of I-45 though Conroe. Drove me nuts as I kept feeling I've gone too far and it wasn't the correct route. But we eventually made it. I led us to the Imaginarium Galleries because I wanted to buy a saddle for my large dragon and got a Dragon egg for Misty's birthday present. Once we got in Misty and I started a quest for food. I opted for fruit to start. I was dressed my Jiva's Original bellydance/fairy outfit, and my dyed bangs have recently faded with washing, but not evenly so I have a pretty nice graduate fade from a dark blue to purple, which matched my outfit. So while I was in line to get my fruit another fairgoer(also dressed in garb) acting perfectly in character asked if I was a fairy. Which then prompted a purchase of fairywings for me(as there's nothing sadder then a fairy who has lost her wings)

Misty however had us on an epic quest for funnel cake, interrupted by a small sidequest for pretty leather hairwraps(and me peeling off a few layers of silk as they were getting way too warm) and Nikki's quest for a bathroom. But we located the funnel cake and bathroom(by which time I was ready for something more substantial than fruit and had a yummy beef empanada) Inside the restroom there was some rather disturbing graffiti on my stall door. Some-one had written "kiss here if you <3 Severus Snape" And the door was covered in lipstick kiss marks. Then had my own epic quest for booze, which was easily accomplished(it's renfest there's booze everywhere) We leveled up and continued exploring, albeit a bit more randomly. I got my annual necklace from Crystal mountain and my hair braided. I couldn't decide what style to get so I finally went "here's some money and do what thou wilst" The result was two lace braids coiled up into a bun with a tiny accent braid. The braiders were also itching to get their hands into Nikki's thigh-length hair, but she had to decline due to limited funds.

We failed at shooting bow and arrows with only Nikki managing to hit a star. And Misty than began her other epic quest of finding Centaur Porn. Searching out one specific pewter work shop that she couldn't remember the name of, but that had figurines of various mythological creatures having sex. SO once again we roamed the wilds of the fair, getting distracted by various shinies(my main distractions a silver loop necklace, a tessan, and another silk outfit in white and red that Nikki and I dubbed "the white mage bellydance set) and taking break to sooth our aching feet. During one such stop a little girl approched Nikki eyes wide in awe and adoration. "Your hair is soo long and pretty" she than noticed my blue hair "You have blue hair. It's beautiful" She was completely adorable and quite proud of her own long hair.

Misty eventually found her centaur porn, and we're hoping that between the three of us grabbing a business card we'll be able to find the store's website and them again. I decided I wanted to get a dragon egg as IG myself as it's becoming something of a tradition of mine. So off we went and I got a 10$ egg, won a 20$ dragon who makes my dragon horde up to 7(I seriously need to get a shelf or something to display these guys on)

We ended the day with Misty and I getting foot massages so out feet were no longer flaming balls of pain and fire. I was so relaxed I was almost falling asleep in the massage chair(ok the general exaustion from the day probably wasn't helping) After the fireworks and the close of the fair we headed out to the car, stopping only to enjoy the bagpipe performers and grab a cd.

We stopped at Denny's for dinner and talked. I took a wrong turn when we left Denny's to head up and we ended up in Brenham before we got turned around and headed in the right direction. We finally made it home to Houston, I dropped Misty and Nikki off. I took a shower and collapsed into my ultra soft Bed of Awesome.

There are plans to go again on the last day of the faire which is the The Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Quick update:
I got a call from a co-worker who lives in my apartment complex letting me know the power's back at my place, so I'll probably be returning home tomorrow. I know school opens Tuesday, but not sure when i'll be going back to work as Houston is under a 9pm curfew for thew next week.

Well I'm still at my parents, their power was restored a few hours after I got here(lucky them) and with it came internet YAY!

Last night:
I was up watching the storm and chatting awith a friend online until about 2am when my lights started to really flicker and my tv reception started breaking up. I shut down the computer, shoved the cats into their carriers and holed up in my downstairs closet under the stairs. Where I was was right next to my AC so as long as I had power I couldn't really hear the storm, but when the power went I could hear it.
Cheser and carrie did not react well to the storm, and Carrie was worse. She actually managed to bust out of her carrier and I could not get her back in because went completely crazy. You breathed or looked at her the wrong way and she would start growling and hissing like she was about to tear your face off. She settled by the door and I eventually just let her be.
Tried to distract myself by playing ff4 on my ds and Me and My Katamari on the psp, didn't last long. [livejournal.com profile] ladymako71 kept me updated via text messages. I drifted in and out of sleep simply due to exhaustion until my friend Misty came knocking at my door around 10:30am.
There was a lot of debris around my apartment, with fallen branches, and on the other side of my building a tree had fallen onto an apartment(I've heard the apt managements has already been out and moved the resident into another apartment) I took some pictures and texted my mom and phone calls are having trouble getting through. Then packed my suitcase, tossed all the frozen meat I had in my freezer into a cooler with frozen water bottles. The went to reload cats into carriers. Teddy was again a total sweet and earned him nickname of teddy bear for going in with a minimum of fuss. Chester made me chase him a little. And Carrie went totally insane. It took me an hour of chasing her through my apartment, poking at her with my vacuum when she ran under the bed, a few matrix kitty moves before I finally corralled her in th upstairs bathroom. I threw a blanket over her, bundled her up and shoved her into a carrier.
Driving out I saw an oak tree in front of the nearby methodist church had fallen, but fortunately not accross the road, or onto the church.
Eventually made it out to my parents and have been chilling out here ever since. Hoping they can get power back to my apartment soon so I can go home.

Hello, [livejournal.com profile] ladymako71 here, I'm posting on Deb's behalf seeing as she won't have power for a week. She made it through it the storm just fine, her place was undamaged, just some debris laying around. She's at her parents place, they have a generator that she's taking advantage for air conditioning. She hopes that all of her other Houstonian friends are safe and that if they can, get in contact with her.

A reporter on ABC13 was given a helmet in case of debris. He was waving it around in his hand.

PUT IT ON YOU DUMBASS!!

So I went to have a look around before the storm hits and what do I see on the ground next to the dumpster? A bookcase. Some idiot decided that today was a good day to throw away furniture. They couldn't put it into the dumperster proper, oh no they dumped on the ground where it's a nice piece of debris to be picked up and thrown around by the incoming winds. FUCKING MORONS!!!

Joining the other Houstonians in preparing for the storm. I've got plenty of food that requires no refrigeration or electricity to cook. Over 3 gallons of water in the freezer, space has been cleared in my downstairs closet for me and the cats, and fresh batteries have been placed into flashlights.

At work yesterday the original plan was business as usual(for Thursday and today, My dad was not impressed when I told him how late I was scheduled to be working on the 12th.) Then around 4 I was looking www.stormpulse.com my manager came over and checked it out over my shoulder, and then went running to the section manager. They apparently had a nice long argument with higher ups in corporate before finally announcing that we would be closed Friday and then until further notice.

And an apparent conversation that took place in my subconscious last night.

"hmm a hurricane's coming. What's the most useless thing I can do right now?"
"Bake cookies"
"Of course. BRILLIANT!"

Me: Hmm I have a desire to make cookies. ::checks kitchen:: Damn out of sugar, baking soda and raw eggs. T_T

Stay safe to all my friends in Houston.

Work is extremely slow today so I'm going to take the time to post about all the things I've been meaning to share.

Random ramblings(and some pictures) under the cut )

I am stalking the mailman today. I ordered jump rings for chainmaille 2 weeks ago. According to the tracking they were delivered on monday, but I don't have the package and never got a delivery notice. I checked with the seller who told me the rings were sent in a padded envelope so I'm thinking some-how the package fell to the floor behind the boxes(at least that's what I'm hoping) SO I have to hope and catch the mailman while he's here and ask. Soo annoying.

Recently I've been on a purge/reorganizing spree and so far I've through out two bags of trash, taken two bags and a box full of items to goodwill. I've also torn down the fabric I've had decorating my walls with the intention of putting up shelving. Yesterday I bought shelves, brackets and screws from ikea, but realized I didn't have a level to make sure they were put up straight. So I bought a laser level from home depot which is SUPPOSED to stick to walls but my walls are so bumpy that it didn't work. Cue hopping online and seeing my friend nikki online and pleading "HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" She agreed and came over and we did battle with the shelves and ended up with lots of little holes in my wall but in the end we were victorious and now I have shelves. One is pretty high up so I'll probably just use it for decorations and knick-nacks.

Today's fail came from Bed Bath and Beyond as yesterday I bought this space saver that's supposed to go over the toilet for more storage. I started putting it together and found it was missing 4 pieces, so I took it back for an exchange, which they were great about. However I got that home took stock and it's missing the EXACT SAME FOUR PIECES. So now I need to go back again, do another exchange and this time open the boxes and check for pieces before leaving. Color me annoyed.

It's 6:30am. WHY AM I AWAKE!!!! Why haven't I slept yet? Why does my body hate me so much?
ladydouji: (Default)
So last night there was a meet-up for lolitas(girls in frilly shit) to see a midnight showing of The Dark Knight. Not gonna say anything about the movie itself except it's EPIC!

As for the meet-up itself it was a lot of fun and lots of pictures were taken although I'm still learning everyone's names. Sadly I didn't take my camera and so have no pictures to share, when people start posting pics I'll edit in a link and all of you can see me looking and acting like a dork. Also got to have a fun, reassuring talk with a girl in a graphics program(as an Ohio college) regarding UH's program which while it is HARD it's also one of the highest rated graphics programs.

Then had to get up early for academic advising as I technically have enough credits to be a senior and the school likes to make sure everyone's on track for graduation. So I had to go satisfy the adviser regarding my education plans. The plan for this semester is finish my art history minor and take Type: design, practice and history with one of the graphics professors. In Spring take a computer graphics class, and possibly one for graphics tech, go up for block. Depending on the results of the block review, I'll either continue with my bfa in graphics, switch to a bfa in art history, OR switch to a bfa in graphic tech(printing, web design and media) with double minor in art history and studio arts. The advantage with the art history minor I wouldn't have that much more to go, just some more electives and need more language. Advantage with the graphic tech degree is work may pay for that one which would make life a lot easier, but I don't have a lot built toward that so would take longer before graduating(but does have more job prospects then the art history major)
