Well the signs did their job and little dude's owners just called to claim him. He actually lives 4 doors down from me. And I was getting used to having a kitten again, but hoping this means Chester will forgive the invasion and come cuddle with me.
ladydouji: (Default)
So I'm sitting at my computer when I hear these sad little kitten cries and go to check it out. I find this little guy outside looking quite lost. Naturally I ended up grabbing him and bringing him inside. He's now sleeping in my lap and purring. Carrie and Chester are taking it pretty well(some hissing but no growling, and haven't taken any swats at him yet) currently working on signs to put up around the complex and neighborhood

*rolls about* I was laaaaaaaaazy today. Did nothing but read fics, watch anime and play video games(ok did a little sketching but no fully developed pictures) Only showered to put on clean pjs.

What I've been reading: I made the mistake of going and catching up on the Bleach manga through onemanga.com I had pretty much fallen out of that series after getting bored with one of the anime filler arcs. But now I'm back in and hunting down fics with Yumichika Ayasegawa featured in them.

Watching: Sengoku Basara. This series is complete and delightful crack with insane over the top action sequences. It's only 12 episodes so I've been running through a marathon of it

Playing: Devil Summoner Raidou vs The Soulless Army. I'm at the final boss now, but he keeps kicking my ass as by that point I'm pretty much out of healing items and it's hard to keep up with the damage. Looks like I'm going to have to back of for a while and level grind in order to finish up the game.

Ugh, I think I'm melting. We're starting to hit triplet digits and my ac is once again proving itself unfit for the duty of keeping me cool. The downstairs is ok, but upstairs where I spend most of my time is sweltering and I'm sweating just sitting at my computer, let alone trying to do any sort of workout. I have a few fans going, and they help a little, but it's still uncomfortable. I'm sorta tempted to go downstairs and sleep on my couch(hey it folds out into a bed)

Hoping I'll be able to sleep tonight

I went on a short vacation to Ohio to visit family without the stress of OMG!Christmas

Monday:
Had a 7:10am flight so didn't bother sleeping the night before. I thought I got to the airport in plenty of time but the lines for the security were insane and I got to the gate at 7:00am way closer then I would like. The flight up was uneventful and my uncle Jim picked me up. I got to nap for a couple hours and we went out to see Up, hitting a comic book store that happened to be next to the theater. I got some trades and vol 1 of the new Red Robin series. Up is another excellent movie from Pixar/Dreamworks and fortunately not as anvilicious as Happy Feet and Wall-E.

Tuesday:
I had been really looking forward to this day as I got to go to the great and holy Mecca of Rollercoasters, Cedar Point up in Sandusky, OH. And found out that my uncle, doesn't like heights or coasters. I had a great time, most of the lines were short except for Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and the Maverick. We didn't make it onto all of the coasters, skipping over Mantis(I hate standing coasters) Iron Dragon, and Maverick(line was too long and I was getting tired) and probably some of the smaller coasters as well. I wasn't able to get Jim onto the Top Thrill Dragster(0-120mph in 4 secs) going 420ft straight up and then straight down at 120mph. It is sooo completely awesome. And from the Millennium Force I have an absolutely classic picture(need to scan it later) My arms are up, look of pure joy and exhilaration on my face, Jim pressing back against the seat, eyes squeezed tight and grimacing. We also beat the guessing games a few times(won every time too) so I now have three new plush puppies. Picked up a t-shirt and shot glasses as souvenirs when I was finally done for the day.

Wednesday:
Went up to visit my grandmother for a short time. We talked for a little bit and she gave me an embroidered tablecloth she made(that I have no idea what to do with but couldn't say no) Then I had to drive up to Millersburg to buy Holmes County cheese. That was a slightly weird experience, standing at the deli counter and buying almost 20lbs of cheese and nothing else. Although the people at the counter seemed to understand and said it happened when people went on trips and such.

Thursday:
Uncle Jim and I went to check out COSI(center of science and industry) It's more geared to kids and getting them interested in science and technology, but there was still some interesting things. I was bummed that I couldn't ride the high-wire unicycle because I was wearing the wrong kind of shoes. Later Grandpa took us out for barbecue, and Jim and I went and saw Star Trek in Imax. One thing I noticed during my second viewing. the uniforms are made out fabric patterned with the starfleet insignia giving them a slightly scaley look rather than flat fabric. Pretty nice actually. Still loving the movie and must buy when it comes out on dvd.

I gave up trying to sleep on the old nasty pillows in my Grandfather's guest room(they literally make me sick by triggering my allergies) and slept on the couch downstairs until Jim woke me up to get ready for the airport. Had to get a little creative with my packing to fit in the cheese and new plushies, but I did it. Jim dropped me off, I got checked in and then the Gods of Travel began mocking me. First a thunderstorm was rolling through, resulting in a weather delay. When that finally calmed down enough for the flight crew to go out to the plane, they found a maintenance issue, fixed quickly and we got to board, only to deplane about 15 minutes later because a flight attendant was feeling ill and the captain was told it'll be 1 1/2 hours before a sub could be found. Fortunately he was wrong and we got to board again only 20 minutes later, all and all resulting a two hour delay. I counted myself lucky that Houston was my final destination with no connections. My seatmate however needed to get to a connecting flight to Trinidad for a school zoology thing, which only leaves once a day, from a gate on the opposite side of IAH, and was scheduled to take off 25 minutes after we finally landed. As we taxied to the gate the flight attendant asked if the other passengers would please let the 6 people in her group off first, and we did. I hope they made it to their flight.

Headed out to my parents place to deliver the cheese and hung out for a while. Showed Mom and Debbie the picture from Cedar Point which had them cracking up, and mom thinks I should blow it up to poster size and give it to Jim at Christmas. Which I may just do. Finally headed home to my soft fluffy bed of awesome and my cats who were happy to see me(course they thought they could scam an extra meal out of me)

Well yesterday I had planned on doing laundry and cleaning a bit, plus taking photos of stuff I want to sell. That plan got blown out when my mom called me about a luggage set at macy's on sale (4 peice set, originally 240$ marked down to 60$) that she was planning on getting for a friends bridal shower, and since i don't want to take my giant suitcase to Ohio I headed over to grab a set too. Unfortunately they only had one set left, but in the clearance section that had a purple set(advertised a 5 peice, but 2 peices were missing) for 35$, purple and the sizes left perfect for a short trip. I feel like such a spoiled brat, but my mom went and bought it for me as soon as we heard the price.

I then got roped into going out to my parents house to wrap the gift for the bridal shower. The stupid thing took an entire roll of paper to wrap up and ribbon to hide where were used two different pieces of paper.

Headed home and found myself wishing I still had clip-on shades for my glasses. Everything seemed too bright for my weak undeveloped nocturnal eyes and it gave me a headache. Ended up passing out for a nap when I got home, after which it was too dark to get good photos

Maybe I'll be able to get the photos done next weekend.

So I survived the week of assist training and started taking calls in development center. So far so good, no truly irate callers(or they're just behaving because I'm now a "supervisor") I have been warned that on most days(but especially weekends) you can have 10-20 minutes between calls, which is a okay with me.

Friday I didn't do much except veg and level grind in Persona 4, today however I got to get my geek on with Free Comic Book Day and Comicpalooza at the Memorial City Mall, Madameblue. Now comicpalooza was small(what can you expect from a convention in a mall) but there were some good artists in the artist alley and cheap comics in the dealers room. I got a sketchbook from Jerry Rascoe which included a sketch of my choosing on the back. I picked Robin number 3(Tim Drake) and the sketch came out pretty awesome. And got to pick up a bunch of comics for 50 cents each.

Then we hit the Wolverine movie(hey it was appropiate for the day) And I'm not getting some of the poor reviews I've seen tossed about. No it's not the OMG best superhero movie ever made, but it was fun and enjoyable. My biggest complaint was the alley fight between Gambit, Wolverine and Sabertooth, and spoilers go under the cut spoilers )

Ok, having a bit of a geek explosion, but in Persona 4, the character Teddie, who previously was basicially a bear mascot suit, ,totally empty on the inside announced he 'wasn't hollow' anymore Then in an anime cutscene took the head off of his suit. Revealing a new human body of a blonde bishonen, including SPARKLES!!!!

Seriously any of my friends who like JRPGs NEED to play this game it is fantastic.

Last saturday I went to a doll meet-up at the Japanese Gardens. It was all very pretty, but like an idiot i forgot to medicate myself against allergies. Cue a massive allergy attack, followed up by a viral infection, but more on that later.

The meet-up itself was a lot of fun and I went a little photo happy which means I must now indulge in picspam.

picspam cut to save your friendslist )

All and all the meet-up was a lot of fun, went home very tired.

Sunday I went to work as normal, but started getting chills and a scratchy throat, for some reason thought it was still an allergy attack and the ac being up too high at work. That last until I woke up at 8:30 am monday morning because of being in pain, tired achy pain all over, and chills. Couldn't find my thermometers, and so couldn't check my temp. Ended up calling off work as they couldn't switch my schedule around, and did a run to HEB for medicine and new thermometer, found I had a fever of 101.6 Spent most of the day sleeping.

Today when I woke up I still had fever but it had gone down, and I wasn't feeling achy anymore. Called off again and went back to sleep. Apparently the sleep is what I needed because now the fever is almost gone and I'm feeling almost normal again.

I'm eating a purple orange.

It's pretty good actually. Technically it's a blood orange my local HEB had on sale recently, but the flesh is so dark it's purple. And tonight while I was trying to decide on dinner my body went "GIVE ME FRUIT!" The result was a yummy dinner of mango, grapes and a purple orange. Oh and a yogurt cup.

About to go down for a nap. I had to take Chester in for his dental cleaning and he had to be dropped off between 7:30am and 8am and it was easier for me just to stay up than wake up early. When I got there it turned out they had Teddy's ashes so I was able to bring him home. Surprisingly they included a little ceder box as an urn. Not my style of home decor and I had already picked up a sleek silver box to use. So when I got home I transferred to his resting spot and lit some incense for him.

I had Teddy put to sleep today.

This morning I woke up to Teddy vomiting, he was lethargic and had no interest in any food(I tried tempting him with kitty milk, avacado and tuna and he didn't want any of it) I think I knew then he was tired and ready to go. I packed him into his carrier and took him to the vet. The vet examined him and found that he was once again severely constipated, while they could try to do an enema to clean him out they would have to sedate him, with no guarantee that he would wake from the sedation, or even the enema would work with the tumor in the way. In considering Teddy's age, how rapidly he had deteriorated from the 30th, and that ultimately the enema would just be a delaying tactic, the vet had to recommend euthanasia, and because I couldn't face putting Teddy through the trauma of an enema again and again I agreed. I stayed with him while the vet gave the injection, just petting him, sadly if he was purring it was too faint for me to hear. The vet and the nurse then gave me a few minutes alone with him, before taking his body to the back for disposal. I've opted to have him cremated so I'll be able to bring his remains home.

Today sucks.

WANT!!!! So much want. It was apparently made for a design contest so I don't even know if it's being manufactured for sale. I can only hope some tea shop picks it up and sells it(hopefully for a reasonable price)
ladydouji: (Default)
Well Funimation has replaced my yu yu hakusho disks. They were actually pretty fast about it, the package was delivered on monday(had to pick it up from the office tuesday) I've checked them and they're good, so I can start re-watching one of my favorite series.

Apparently at work there's some sort of poster contest going on between teams. I don't really know much about it, my manager came by yesterday and asked if I could make a poster with a rodeo theme "lassoing problems" and some stuff about our problem resolution flow. SO I went in today with my markers, pens and pencils, sketch something out and did the illustration part of the poster and plan to do the type on Sunday. To be honest I think it's ugly and my design teachers would kill me for it, but everyone else seems to like it. But with the time I was given it's like some sort of Iron Chef of design.

I did go and make a lolcat of Teddy and his avacado like I wanted. I'm way too easily amused.

Some sucky news, is that I completely fucked up my tax with-holding last year and currently own 927 in taxes. Which is almost an entire paycheck for me. I'm trying to schedule OT at work, but right now all the OT they're offering is for email, and while I'm technically trained on him, that was a 2 hour class over 6 months ago, and they never put me on email duty after that, so I can't remember my id and password for the email system. Trying to get it reset through my manager, but it's been slow-going. Also plan to start digging through my stuff for items to sell to help build cash. But over all I'm looking at some very leans months in the future as I've already fixed my with-holding for this year(to prevent owing a lot again) and my take home pay is going to be a bit smaller.

Remember how I mentioned Teddy liked avacado. Well this morning I was letting him have some and taking a few pictures when I remembered my camera can record some short video. ^_^ So here's a video of teddy and his yummy avacado.

So I did get a reply from funimations apologizing that there's an issue with the title and asking for my address, so looks like they're either replacing the fucked up disks, or sending instructions on exchanging them.

Teddy had an unplanned vet visit on Friday. I had take Chester in for a dental cleaning, but they weren't able to do it because a piece of equipment broke. So I got to pick him up early and took Teddy with me so I could check his weight and let the vets and nurses say hello(he's a favorite there) I also wanted to see how often he should be getting the steroid shot that's keeping the inflammation and pain from the tumor under control. Turns out it's a good thing I asked as it's supposed to be 6-8 weeks and he was due for a booster. So we quickly signed him in, quick exam and then the shot. Sadly he's still underweight, and I'm beginning to doubt if I'll get his weight back up to what is should be. But his coat is still shiny and soft and his eyes bright and clean.

So At Oni-con I picked up Yu Yu Hakusho The complete first season, completely new and still in it's shrinkwrap from funimation. Since I finally finished up Princess Tutu while riding on my mini-elliptical, I busted it out to do my workout tonight. However there's a MAJOR error on the disks. Disk 1 and Disk 2 are labeled as such, and have a little case labeled as part 1, but the episodes actually one the disks are eps 15-21 and 22-28, in short, the same as disk 3 and 4. WTF!!! Has anyone else heard of this problem with Funimation disks?
ladydouji: (Default)
*poke* I guess I should update this everyone and a while.

There's not a lot going on right now. Due to the large vet bill, and car maintenence bill I didn't have the money to attend classes this semester, so I'm just working. Slowly re-organizing stuff around the apartment(throwing things out, putting up new shelves for more storage)

Teddy is doing fantastic considering how dire and pessimistic his original diagnosis was. He's eating regularly and has regained a little weight back, but he's still thin and bony. He has picked up that I'm spoiling him right now and taking shameless advantage when something I'm eating smells really good. Although his sudden interest in avocados is still surprising and weird. Adorable, but weird. I really want to get a picture of him going all Om nom nom on an avacado and do a macro of "obligate carnivore says MINE!!"

I met up with Blue recently(to all our mutual friends she is still alive) She however has no internet at home, and can only check her email via laptop and local wi-fi and her time for that is pretty limited. I got to check out her new apartment which is pretty nice and we watched Evil Dead Parts 1 and 2: The musical. What sweet wonderful crack that was. Although the first few songs were painful "What the Fuck was That" and "All the men in my life keep getting eaten by Candarian Demons" were fantastic and hysterical. Next Paycheck I am sooooo buying the soundtrack from iTunes.

Currently playing through Tales of the AByss on the ps2 right now. Damn the game is pretty harsh with the heartstrings, but still a lot of sun and I like the characters, and the art. Next hoping to pick up Persona 4.
