Jan. 30th, 2010 05:57 pmWow. I am sooooo fucking jealous of my parents right now. They're going to New Orleans Valentines weekend for a white tie Mardi Gras ball. Apparently it's a work thing but still soooo freaking cool. *toes* I did ask that if she sees a really cool mask to bring one back for me, to add to my small collection.
And my christmas shopping has begun(yes I know I suck) But I stopped by Hanson Galleries today and they had something that was absolutely gorgeous and perfect for Debbie marked down to 30$ from the original price of 78$. I would have been an idiot not to grab it. Now it's a matter of finding a safe place to stash it until next year(part glass and very fragile)
Now for some doll babble.
Changing my wig plans for my Soom Beylas Lethe and Mnemosyne. Originally they were going to be in white wigs(one fur with faint pink tips, the other with long sausage curls) but looking at Lethe in her wig, looks too washed out. And then at nDoll I found this and my brained screamed CUUUUUTE!!!!!! So now trying to decide if I'll put them both in identical wigs, or do the same color different styles like I did with my other set of doll twins. Site also has the wig style I want for my Glati, but not the color. So trying to decide whether to compromise on the color, or see if I can dye the wig the color I want.
And thinking of putting a moratorium on buying dolly stuff that isn't for Glati or Mnemosyne until I have them all put together. It shouldn't been too hard as I don't need anything for my other dolls except shoes, and I'm looking a few taobao shops to get that taken care of.

no more vicoden ever!
Jan. 29th, 2010 12:58 amI mentioned on tuesday about my love/hate relationship with vicoden. It's now full blown hate. I was being careful, taking half doses, taking with food. But I still got an upset stomach and spent 30 hours throwing up and unable to even keep down water. It got bad enough I was getting ready to find and visit and urgent care unit for the dehydration I was starting to suffer. It finally ended at 4:30am on thursday when I woke up from a nap, with no nausea and desperately thirsty. Slowly got to easy back into liquids and foods, and I'm back to normal. But I will definitely need to talk to my dentist about different pain meds, because I'm not going anywhere near vicoden again.

Jan. 26th, 2010 11:46 pmWent back to the dentist today to finish off the root canal. It beat me up more then I expected so called off work, and continued my love/hate relationship with vicoden.
Misty and Nikki visited as I'm taking care of their cats for a short time while they look for a new place. Right now they're being kept in a puppy training cage as I didn't believe my place could survive 5 cats running around. Took the opportunity to clean the littler boxes and sweep up the cage. Smudge came investigating and being cute by climbing the bookcase.

State of the Lady
Jan. 12th, 2010 07:19 pmBeen too long since I posted.
In the basic news the new cat who I named Smudge is slowly fitting in and I've already caught all three cats sharing the bed, cleverly arranging themselves so there's no room for me. Smudge is actually older then first estimated. The vet places her at 2-3 years old based on her teeth, but allowed me to fudge her age on the Banfield records so I could put her on a kitten wellness plan which covers getting her neutered. SHe has a vet visit on the 15th to begin her on her vaccinations.
Christmas in Ohio went ok. Except learning that my uncle and grandfather are part of the Tea Party movement, so much respect lost in that instant. My grandmother loved the blanket I made for her. All the same I was happy to come home to Texas where typically warm and I have a soft bed.
Then on Jan 1st we had Christmas exchange for the Texas. Mom and Dad managed to surprise me with a new Wii(after I had bought a refurbished one. Oops) Luckily gamestop allowed me to return the used on I bought.
Last Saturday was productive as I got to get the state inspection done for my car as well as an oil change. And took advantage of Macy's one day sale to get some new cute bras for cheap. Met up with Jen for lush goodies, lunch and gift exchange.
The sucky news is last friday I had a filling fall out. Monday I made a quick appointment with my dentist to have it fixed. That was today and the filling turned into a root canal. I ended up calling off work, and am re-aquaint myself with my love/hate relationship with vicodin/ It does wonders for pain, but tends to give me an upset stomach.
And now about to pass out from the pain meds. Night all

Merry Christmas
Dec. 24th, 2009 03:37 amIn another 8 hours or so I will be on a plane heading to Ohio. I need to be at the airport around 8:30am(I know they say 1 hour for domestic but I'm not trusting that with holiday travel) Since there's pretty much no way I'm waking up in time I have a couple hours to kill while I pull an all-nighter.
I've packed, washed and folded laundry made my bed(ahh so looking forward to coming home to a fluffy soft bed)
Packing was interesting since I didn't manage to mail the gifts up to Ohio and so they're going on the plane with me. My grandmother's gift(afghan I crocheted for her) took up about a quarter of my suitcase and I still needed to fit in another 14 gifts and clothing, toiletries etc. . . for 4 days. Thankfully since I'm only going to be there 4 days I didn't need to take that much stuff. 2 pairs of jeans, 5 tops(one extra which is my OSU sweatshirt for layering) 2 pairs of pjs, underwear cosmetics box. Got pretty much everything I needed fit. Then filled up my carryon bag with the pumpkin bread(that my uncles are getting in their gifts) my camera, one of my dolls and extra pair of shoes.
Called my mom and mentioned how absolutely packed my suitcase was with everything and she says "And you need an outfit for church Christmas Eve."
Whoa whoa what?
"Brian, Sherry and Amanda are doing the advent candle. I'm sure I told you about this"
No she didn't. She then tried to tell me that jeans and a nice shirt would be ok considering the type of church it is. But I know if I do that, there will be snarky comments(as well as if I just pass on the entire thing) Really I'm 31 years old, is it that important I go to church because my cousin is taking part in the service? So I manage to add a black skirt to the suitcase, a pair of dress shoes to the carry-on and toss in some pantyhose, that with the shirt I was planning to wear on the way up will be nice enough for church.
And following a link from a webcomic I found Horrible Histories. A sketch comedy edutainment show from the BBC. It's fantastic. A couple quick links to my favorites so far
Robert Knox
6 wives of Henry the 8th"
The Tudor's song"
I think I need the whole show, not just these little snippets on youtube.

Dec. 11th, 2009 01:34 pmHA! I have almost all christmas gifts taken care of(bought and wrapped.) Only thing left is to make yummy treats for the gift bags i'm putting together for my uncles, and gift bags for my nieces fairy wings. Do need to pack up most of the gifts going to Ohio and ship them up. Oh, if you're only wrapping small packages(like say 10x8x3) those 1$ rolls of wrapping paper from Target are fantastic. I used one roll to wrap 18 gifts, and could have wrapped a few more if I hadn't miscalculated and cut off too little on some of the wrap jobs prompting a do-over.
New kitten is fitting in nicely with hissing slowly going down to a minimum, and Carrie and Chester have apparently forgiven me for bringing in the interloper.

Here I go again
Dec. 7th, 2009 04:28 amWhen I got home from work I saw an IM from my friend Misty saying simply "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Concerned I asked what was wrong and learned that after the recent snow a 6-8 month old kitten had appeared in their garage. Said kitten was extremely skinny, but very friendly and affectionate. Misty couldn't help but feed it, but it kept trying to get into the house. As it's her grandparent's house and her grandfather has a horrible temper with no compunction against unleashing it against harmless, defenseless animals the kitten could not stay.
Knowing I could come to regret it, I told her to bring the kitten over. A few minutes later there was knocking at my door and Nikki with a cat carrier. The kitten, who is a long hair tortie(and I'm beginning to suspect main coone in her ancestry) was scared and mewing the cutest most pathetic mew. I swear it sounded like she was saying 'help help.'
Now begins the integration process and hoping it goes well. The girl is very sweet and affectionate, but Carrie and Chester are naturally not happy about the new addition.

Thanksgiving and Renfest
Nov. 28th, 2009 02:20 amSince my mother had her gallbladder removed last friday(and boy did that come out of nowhere) I wasn't sure if my family was going to have a Thanksgiving dinner or not till the 25th when I got an email and a text from my mom saying Dad bought a turkey and it'll be ready around 5:30pm. So I baked up some pumpkin bread and headed out in the afternoon.
Mom is feeling better, but still sore and isn't able to lift anything. I got roped into decorating the Christmas tree again. Which I should just declare as the family tradition as it's been happening for the past couple of years now. Larry, Debbie and my nieces came over and the final touches were put on dinner. We then ate till we were ready to pop.
I grilled Debbie and Larry on gift ideas for Christmas. Larry apparently needs the PS3 remote and Dad needs batteries for his cordless tools. Mom also gave one of my gifts early, which was my dad's PS3(he wanted to use it as a media server, but didn't hook up the way he wanted so it got passed on to me) Need to pick up a game to play and cords to hook it up, but it is still quite shiny. After fighting off the turkey coma my parents loaded me up with leftovers and I head home. When I got home I gave my kitties some turkey as a treat
Friday, since I don't do Black Friday shopping(at least not at the mall) I went up to the Renaissance Festival with my friend Jen. To give an idea how busy and crowded it was, it took about an hour to get up to Magnolia(faire is just outside of the town) and then another hour to get through Magnolia. I did accomplish one goal I had for the drive up, found a guy selling firewood(10$ a stack) which is so much better then the stupid 4$ for 3 dinky pieces of wood the grocery stores sell.
We reach the faire and grab our tickets. Heading inside we go straight to Heaven in earths traders, because Jen wanted new shoes from them, and I wanted some cushioning soles for my pair. After that I accomplished my next big goal which was purchasing fairy wings for my nieces Christmas gifts. Happily the guy was nice enough to hold them until the end of the day so I didn't have to carry them around. After that we were pretty much free. I bought a "stocking" from the pirates, basically a huge stocking that they fill with various sharp pointy objects(again pick up at the end of the day after their auction/raffle) Then bought a ring, steel, tribal design and cz in the center. The got a perfume bottle necklace, but not from my usual place. Instead it's a small blown glass vial, clear with red swirl.
We got food and let our feet rest. Did see some new entertainers this year, both were one stilts in in costumes. One as an Ent, and the other as a dragon/monster thing. I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera as the Ent was pretty awesome looking. I then got my hair braided into a lace crown and picked up a silver/red rose circlet that accented it perfectly.
We started heading back to the pirate shop for their auction/raffle and so I could pick up my stocking. The auction part was interesting, people would bid on items as normal for an auction, sometime then the pirate would knock part of the price off, like 10$ or half off the winning bid(winning bid 60, divide by 2 so the winner pays 30$) and then pick people from the crowd who can buy the same item for the same price. And for the ladies, bouncing helps to get the captain's attention. They had a lovely pole weapon that ended up being 30$, and I bounced for it. What can I say I like my shinies? Then picked up my stocking, the fairy wings and Jen and I headed home.
Home and tired, and tomorrow braving the mall to pick up things I need and christmas supplies, and time for bed.

Nov. 14th, 2009 02:05 amBack in October I found a recipe for pumpkin spiced vodka. Being a pumpkin loving fiend I had to make it. Using a bottle of Ivannabitch(the name amuses me so) I added in pieces of roasted pumpkin, vanilla bean, cinnamon sticks and red hot candies, and pumpkin spices. Then I let it sit for a month. Tonight I did the final step of filtering it and testing it.
Oh sweet sweet delicious goodness. It's lovely enough paired with amerreto but add in pumpkin ice cream and you have crack in a glass.
*rolling in a haze of alcholic pumpkiny bliss*

Oni-con 2009
Nov. 3rd, 2009 03:37 amSo saturday morning I dragged myself out of bed in order to hit Oni-con. I dressed up in lolita with my hair in curls.
Registration was right in the middle of the Artist Alley(next to a door so the line could form outside) Fortunately I got there early enough that the line was short and moved quickly. There were two dealer's rooms this year, one small and right off the Artist Alley, and a main one on the other side of the hotel. I hit the small dealer's room first and got the purchase pieces of my childhood with one dealer selling cels from He-Man, She-Ra, and The Real Ghostbusters. Pretty cheap too.
Met up with my friend Sarah and we headed off to the other dealers room. Stopping on the way to get my picture with a Green Ranger cosplayer. This was apparently my day for nostalgia. As I also saw a wonderful Yusuke cosplayer.
In the dealers toom I found a store that was selling the Myth messenger bags with a bunch of them at 30$ buy one get one free. SO I called up my friend Jen because I knew she had been looking for them, figuring I could send her some pictures get one for her and she pay me back later. Ultimately she decided to hit the con at the urging of her fiance.
I ran home to grab two of my dolls for the planned doll meet(that later I could never find, but oh well) met up with Jen and after getting lunch and meeting with Sarah and her friend on the failed doll meet hunt. We finally hit the dealer's room. First we picked out bags, me getting a Transformers messenger/backpack, and I bought a resin Statue of Cloud that I've been wanting for years, and small plush of Yusuke. Then later getting Zack action figure, some pretty letter openers/doll sword. Did some christmas shopping at a booth that had jewelry, pretty boxes and fairy figurines getting a holiday bubble fairy for Debbie. Then picked up a bento box and egg molds.
Jen and I just sorta walked around talking for a while, and I realized that next year would be my 10th anniversary of being an anime fan and going to conventions(my first was A-kon in 2000) I could kinda like to go up to A-kon next year to commemorate it, but might be hard to find people to go with. All the same I should probably start saving and planning anyway.
Later i'll get a picture of all of my loot and scan the cels to put them up.

Oct. 27th, 2009 03:06 amSo today I was woken up early by my cell phone ringing. I didn't answer it in time, but recognized the number as coming from work. I figured it was them calling to see if I could/would work OT but was too tired to call back. So I I laid back down thinking to sleep until my alarm went off, but couldn't because I kept hearing this *drip* *drip* *drip* from somewhere over my head. I looked up at the water damage spot that's been on my ceiling since I moved in. Stood on the bed, put my hand against it and it was wet. My roof is leaking and that killed any chance of more sleep.
Showered, dressed and headed to the apartment office to report the leak. Maintenance came over, poked a hole in the ceiling to allow the water to drip into a bucket(that's perched rather nicely on my bed,) rather then build, bubble and then break the sheet rook ceiling. He said he called the roofers and they'll be out when it stopped raining. But the rain today has been on and off and I left shortly after for a baked goods breakfast and since I was up go in to work for OT. I ended up work 1pm to 1am. and so I don't know if they came out and fixed my roof or not. Guess I'll have to make use of the sofa bed my mom insisted on getting for me a few years back. Oh fun.
Work was long and tiring with way too many calls that bankers should have been able to handle if they hadn't forgotten to read all of the conversion information. Such as all pre-conversion bill pay questions are handled by claims. They weren't done on our system so we can't see them.
Sleepy now, so gonna go prepare my sofa bed and crash.

YAY My internet is back
Oct. 18th, 2009 01:11 amI woke up around 1pm today, and shortly after got a call from the ATT worker that he was going to be out shortly. 2 hours later my internet was working again. YAY!!
Then called my friend Jen for a randome afternoon get together. Telling her she would want to come over and try what I baked last night
Jen: What did you make?
Me: Chocolate Pumpkin Bread
Jen: I'll be right over.
We ended up hitting Michael's and picking up craft supplies before getting appetizers at beudreax's(sp)
Afterwards I got dressed up in one of my frilly lolita dresses to go bowling with co-workers before conversion next week. The bowling alley had a 2 hour wait, and most people showed up late. So instead we ended up at Dave and Buster's playing various games. Toward then end I had some random drunk dude come up and hand me a tub of tickets saying I was the lucky winner(and then later he gave me another handful) I think I ended up with a little over 3500 tickets, but nothing in the winners circle I wanted to get so instead it's stored on my card for next time. Left shortly after and headed home.
In gaming news, I beat the main story line of Dissidia and unlocked the extra storylines for FFXI and FFXII, which I then beat. Now on yet another surprised story mode, but it looks like it's going to kick my ass repeatedly. But I really have to commend the game designers, ,they keep tossing out all these little surprises and rewards for meeting certain benchmarks to help keep people from getting bored with the game and keep them playing. I almost have Cloud up to level 100, I guess after that I'll go and level up all the other characters too(all 22 of them)

Oct. 16th, 2009 03:15 pmMy internet at home has been out since monday morning. I'm currently at my parents bumming internet from them and trying to catch up on my lj and emails. I called ATT(current provider) and apparently something's wrong with my phone lines and there's some-one scheduled to come out for repair on saturday.

This cute little guy's name is Seth, and he was recently injured and needs a paw amputeed. The vet does believe he'll make it through the surgery and will adapt to only having 3 limbs. However Seth's owner has very tight finances and right now can't afford the surgery. You can see more information in her lj post here
I've already sent a few dollars along, and got permission to pass the word around.

Sep. 16th, 2009 06:29 pmRAGE. Next month there's a big conversion from a merger(moving 4 states from dead bank's systems to our systems) and instead of ASKNG people volunteer for OT they've declared everyone is working OT with an extra work day scheduled and lunches are going to be cut to 30 min. Taking away my regular scheduled day off of Oct 30th. I was planning on volunteering for OT via coming in early and working a few extra hours on my regular days but I had plans for Oni-con that weekend which will now be completely shot because of this.

Aug. 26th, 2009 12:02 amOooh pretty paycheck is pretty. It should be with over 30 hours of OT and incentive bonus on it. And my dilemma of choosing between a PS3 or upgrade one of my dolls to a mature doll was resolved when Soom released their new monthly limited. Quickly prompting me to take a third option and get an entirely different doll. But oh so cute. (getting the Beyla btw)
Still waiting for the Den of Angels mods to post the entries for the contest I entered for voting. Trying so hard to not getting annoyed, but it's been 10 days since the entry deadline and they haven't told us how or when the voting will take place. They say two of the mods(including the admin) are busy moving, but in that same time the put up entries for a different, larger contest and then started another small contest. Bah!
Also I've been summoned for jury duty next month. here's hoping I don't have to show up too early in the morning.

Aug. 19th, 2009 03:23 amI saw that I'm getting a nice 250$ customer satisfaction bonus on my next paycheck, plus that check should have a nice chunk of OT(at least 20 hours, but 8.5 of those were double OT) and it will finally have my pay increase. Decision time, should I get the new slim PS3 that's also getting a price drop to 300$ or join a split to get a Bee-A(doll) upgraded to the mature body and not have to worry about selling my old one first.

Jul. 30th, 2009 02:20 amOk after stubbling on it's entry at tvtropes.org(don't go there it will ruin your life) I decided to check out Saint Seiya and started watching it at animecrazy.net. Kinda interesting and I'm digging the 80's anime cheese and aesthetic. For 25 eps it's been boys in mystical armor, lots of fighting(it's shonen what do you expect) and then from outta nowhere comes 3 boys who's armor comes from transforming mecha(which doubles as their transportation until they need to fight)
Me: . . . Mecha? WTF! Where did this shit come from?
then I just loled. Still waiting for an in show explanation, but for right now I'm going with the creator thought it'll be cool and threw it in.
