AnimeFEST report Day one
Aug. 31st, 2003 03:58 am 10pm friday night: left Houston for Dallas and Mizu no Ryu's house. Had munchies, soda and spent the last 45 minutes with windows rolled down and the Gimme Gimmes Blaring while we sang along badly. Got horribly lost and confused once we left the freeway resulting in many calls to Mizu at 3am as we tried to find our way to her place. Arrived, and promptly crashed
12 noon Saturday: Woke up, showered and dressed. Left for lunch before con. had lunch at Le' Madeline, Blue and I both again got very confused. But then it seems anytime we get together it's an experiment in controlled chaos and confusion.
Arrived at con. Mizu and Blue hit the fanfiction panel. I hit the dealers room. Today I purchased A gundam X cel of Garrod smiling, a bakuretsu hunters game cel of Gateua, and a cel of Katsu from RK, Wolf's Rain pencilboard, GW dj and Saiyuki dj, 2 playing card decks, and 2 pins. Got a picture of GREAT Ghostbuster cosplayer. Had a proton pack and everything. Got a picture and gave him a hug (cause he was cute) Met up with Blue and Mizu again, and was introduced to Katsu no Miko.
We all then decided to head out for dinner before a concert by Move (whom I have never heard before) We tried to find a place called Yoshi's for sushi but the evil map lied to us and it was no place to be found. Pulled into a shopping plaza, spotted The Saffron House: Fine Indian food and decided to try there.
Which proved to be a mistake. We walked in and the host immediately asked if we had a reservation. We said no and asked if it would be a problem? He said no and said he'd prepare a table for us. We got nervous and decided to peek at a menu. The first one we grabbed HAD NO PRICES! Not a good sign, grabbed another and the entrees were about 15$ and ranged up to 25$. Mindful of our wallets we beat a hasty and not so dignified retreat. Found our way to Bennigan's and had a good delightful dinner.
Then back to the con for Move. There were good though the concert seemed very short. Afterwards hung out in Katsu's room playing gin rummy(I lost horribly) the saw the Hong Kong thriller The Eye It was interesting and freaky, though not as much as I expected.
The back to Mizu's and we took my car to a walmart for air mattresses and found that the a/c in my car, which has just been fixed on Friday, has crapped out AGAIN!! We're planning on dropping the car off at another place in the chain before hitting the con. but damn this is annoying.
