ladydoujiI had to put Chester down today. This morning while I was sitting at the computer he crawled next to the computer panting heavily and in a panic. I tried to pick him up and check on him, but he fought against me. I let him down and he peed all over the carpet. I called the vet describing his symptons and they said to bring him in. I threw him into his carrier and drove on out.
When I got there they immediately took him to the back. After a while they came and got me and took me to the back. And gave me the bad news. Chester was going into heart failure and fluid was backing up into his lungs so he couldn't breathe. There was a treatment, but it would be difficult and stressful to Chester and no gaurantee that it would work, or even help to make Chester more comfortable. Considering Chester's age the vet reccommedning letting Chester go and I agreed. I called my Debbie who came to be with me while they gave Chester the shots and let me cry on her shoulder.
Opting to have Chester cremated and his ashes returned and plan to keep him with Teddy.
