Nov. 23rd, 2007 12:06 amHappy Thanksgiving to all my US friends.
I went out to my parents loaded with belated birthday presents for my mom and nieces.
When I got out there I gave Mom her gift, a Mark Roberts Emerald City fairy(santa) and was roped into decorating their Christmas tree. Yummy food was prepared and Mom and I watched the old cheesy movied about the Hardy family from the thirties. Turner Classic movies was having a marathon of them and all I can say is there are hour and half sitcoms. Yummy food was eaten, and my plane ticket for Ohio was ordered, fortunately mom offered to pay for half as my birthday gift.
Later Debbie and Larry arrived with my nieces and Debbie carrying a slightly dirty calico manx kitten. Apparently it had crawled into her car while they were at her parent's house. They've temporarily named the kitten Fuugee( as in refugee) and her parents will be asking the small number of neighbors if they're missing a manx kitten. So Debbie is trying to not fall in love with the kitten because they may just be cat-sitting an escaped pet(this is likely as the kitten has been spayed, but apparently people will bring fixed cats out to that area to be outdoor cats with short lifespans to help combat groundhogs and other pests) But at the same time there's a feeling of fate or kismet here. 2 weeks ago Debbie took her cat Shadow to the vet because she had become frighteningly thin. Shadow had developed a tumor in her stomach, and while they could do surgery it couldn't guarantee survival for very long, or quality of life and so Debbie made the decision to have shadow put down, and then buried her out on her parent's land. Out of the five cars that were there, Fuugee picked Debbie's to climb into, plus Debbie's preference for torties and calicos. You can almost sense something guiding that kitten to that place, at that time.

Date: 2007-11-23 09:40 am (UTC)And OMG! the kitten was just so beautiful and so sweet. She tolerated my nieces, she tolerated my parent's dog getting right in her face without hissing. There was some drama and hissing when Fuugee was introduced to Debbie and Larry's resident cats(15 year old Huey, and 6 month old Kaze) but really that's to be expected. Give them a couple of weeks and Fuugee and Kaze should be great playmates.
