Just got a call from my mother asking(ok telling me) that I need to be at the wal-mart photo center by noon tomorrow, she's made an appointment for the granddaughter(me, cousin Amanda and my two neices) to have pictures done for my grandfather. She also informs me that the other girls will be in pink(I guess Easter sunday best) and I realize I have nothing appropiate as I don't really go to church and I sure don't have anything pink. I have a top that may work but no skirt that works with it. I also have work today until 11pm and don't have a lot of time to shop. Kinda wondering how mad she'll be if I show up in the kimono I have, it's a sorta ivory with pink, yellow and blue flowers so it's the right colors.

I also told her I dyed my hair black, her response? "Oh well, you can just put it in a french braid(aka hide it in the pictures)

*bangs head* I love my mom I love my mom I love my mom

ETA: Thank God for Foley's and sales. Managed to run in before work and found two skirts, two tanks and a crochet vest all for 60$ that will work for the photos and be good for work wear. And for bonus Starbucks has brought back the Green Tea Frappacino *purrs happily*

It is sooooo tempting, but at the same time these photos are gifts for my grandfather cause it's hard and rare to get all the grandkids together in one place at one time. No reason why I should screw up something for him just to rile up my mom. Although for the hair I'm thinking pigtails, no way am I hiding my nice shiny new hair.

Overall, you have to make sure that you are yourself in the end. Otherwise the photo's just gonna be a shell. If you feel you need to placate the mother, then compromise...but don't give up your self-expression entirely.

Well I like the skirts(though I think I got one a size too big) that I found so I'll be able to wear them again, and plan on doing pigtails(maybe a cute headband if I can find one in time) I'm making an effort to look nice, but don't feel any need to hide my hair(which no matter what else she'll find most objectional) My worry is showing up and her having some ghastly pink thing for me to wear becuase I said I didn't have anything.
