Adventures in cat-sitting
Jan. 25th, 2006 03:21 amSo one of my friends has two cats that she's not really supposed to have(in her grandparents house where she's currently living) Her grandparents are typically away rving, but her grandmother was coming home for a doctor's appointment, meaning they had to find a place to hide the cats until the visit was over. Since I live close by and she's watched over my 3 cats while I'm on vacation I volunteered to take the two for about 2 weeks. I'm currently on day 2.
The first plan was to stash her two cats in my downstairs bathroom to limit confrontation. That unfortunately didn't last long as her boy cat dominic is a strong little guy who managed to knock the sliding door off it's rollars and get out, repeatedly. So he's out exploring, while the girl Hime went and found herself a nice hiding spot under my bed(more precisely in my box springs) There's lots of hissing and growling as they all try to sort out a pecking order.
Unfortunately my bedframe is rather rickety, and I've been needing to tighten it up for a while. Tonight part of the botton railing shifted dropping a corner of the mattress to the floor. I can fix it if I can find a hex key, but until it's fixed I wanted to take everything off and get all cats out from under it. So I pulled everything off, but even when I moved the box springs Hime wasn't coming out. I finally managed to chase her out, and to make sure she has access to food and water and safe from my 3 bullies I decided to try and put her into the bathroom(she'll probably be quite content there) I ended up chasing her throughout my townhome apartment, until she finally ran into the bathroom herself.
I've managed to fix the bed frame despite my lack of a hex key(will probably still go and pick one up so I can tighten the whole frame) so at least I won't be sleeping on the couch. As least all of this made me forget a crappy call at work.
