Mar. 30th, 2007 01:02 amFor those on my friendlist who don't know I'm a graphic communications major at University of Houston. The program requires 36 hours of concentrated study aka Block, junior and senior. You get into Block by a competitive portfolio review. I've been eligible for a couple of years but never managed to actually go up(never actually felt ready) This semester I'm going for it. It takes place Apr. 12th.
Today was the Pre-block review put on by junior block. Basically you show your portfolio and current block members review it and give feedback. It was an interesting experience which has left me utterly terrified of the upcoming block review. Mainly because my poster is gone. The poster is a big project done in intermediate graphics which is supposed to represent everything we've learned. My poster is gone thanks to my AC breaking a few years ago soaking my carpet right into my downstairs closet ruining actually a number of projects I had stored in there. All I have left is 3 sketches and 2 weeks to re-do it and a couple other items, plus my current assignments. I hadn't worried about it before now because I didn't realize just how big a deal the poster is, add in that a number of my sketchbooks* are gone as well I'm in trouble and if I stop to think about it I'm going to collapse in a pile of terrified sobbing.
I'm taking care of two of the simpler projects I wanted redo night and I'm done with one of them, I just need to hit kinkos to get the type I need printed.
Wish me luck everyone I'm going to need it, as well as a great big drinking party when this semester is over.
*for each project we do, we make a sketchbook of how we developed the final piece because the teachers like to see the process we did.
